About The Role:
Mears Group is currently searching for an experienced and professional Finance Assistant with a flexible approach to support our business. You will be responsible for day-to-day cash & banking tasks associated with the business, including daily reconciliations of a number of bank accounts & pro-actively dealing with any matters that arise, and helping out with various management accounting tasks and ad-hoc payments.
You will report to the Management Accountant and work alongside the MHM team to help ensure the smooth running of the accounts department, completing tasks accurately and to strict deadlines, providing the business with the highest level of service at all times. Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks before commencement of employment.
Your responsibilities & duties will include:
Reconcile the MHM, AASC, MOD, CAS, ARAP and More Homes bank accounts on a daily basis, pro-actively ensure that items arising are dealt with on a daily basis.
Process Housing Benefit refunds in a timely manner.
Process ad hoc BACS and CHAPS payments in accordance with agreed deadlines. This includes large property purchase payments for which detail is key.
Work closely with other Non-Financial teams in the business and maintain good working relationships.
Reconcile and maintain several balance sheet accounts.
Complete the monthly fixed asset registers for several Group and non-Group entities and post monthly depreciation journals.
Assist with preparing journals and schedules for the monthly management accounts.
Create and submit monthly invoices for a variety of contracts and deal with any queries which arise from these.
Prepare the MHM Vat return
Review and approve lease agreements, ensuring all system entries are complete and accurate.
Take ownership of monthly landlord report for investor-type clients and address any resulting queries.
What are we looking for?
Ambition to study or studying towards ACCA/CIMA qualification
Confident user of Microsoft packages, including word and excel.
Ability to build relationships remotely with finance, non-finance colleagues and external clients.
Flexible and adaptable in approach to work with the ability to multi-task, and to work to deadlines.
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise.
