Fire Risk Assessor

Location: Visits will be required in the North East, specifically across Yorkshire and the Humber

Full time / Permanent

Salary: £45,000 per annum plus car allowance (With potential for negotiation for highly qualified and experienced candidates)

About the Role

As a Fire Risk Surveyor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of buildings and public spaces with fire safety regulations. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments, identifying potential fire hazards and evaluating the associated risks. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing effective fire safety plans to mitigate these risks.

In this role, you will work closely with clients, providing expert advice on fire safety measures and strategies to prevent fire incidents. You will also collaborate with other professionals, such as fire services, building managers, and surveyors, to ensure that fire safety standards are met and maintained. This includes staying current with changes in fire safety legislation and best practices.

Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering fire safety training to employees and stakeholders, ensuring they are well-informed about fire safety procedures and emergency responses. Your work will involve producing detailed reports documenting your findings and recommendations, which will be essential for maintaining compliance with fire safety regulations.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Conduct fire risk assessments and audits in accordance with organisational and regulatory guidelines
  • Identify fire hazards and evaluate the potential risks associated with the
  • Develop and implement fire safety plans and action plans
  • Provide fire safety advice to clients, both verbally and in detailed written reports.
  • Keep up to date with changes in fire safety regulations and guidelines
  • Work with other professionals, such as fire services, building managers, and surveyors, to develop and implement fire safety measures
  • Deliver training on fire safety to employees and other stakeholders
  • Produce in-depth reports to document findings from fire risk assessments

Key Criteria

  • Proven experience as a fire risk assessor or in a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience conducting Fire Risk Assessments
  • Relevant qualifications, such as IFE/FPA accredited fire risk assessor certification, NEBOSH, or IOSH
  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations and guidelines, such as the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict fire safety legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving license

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
