Junior Front-End Developer (Part-Time)
Location: Exeter
Salary: £18,750.00 pro-rated
Job Type: Permanent / Part-time (25 hours per week), hours to be confirmed
About the Role:
Mears Group is looking for a Junior Front-End Developer to join our IT Development team. This role is ideal for someone at the start of their career who is eager to build hands-on experience in front-end development and digital forms.
You will support the development and maintenance of user interfaces and digital forms, working closely with developers, UX designers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, responsive, and accessible solutions.
Build and maintain user interface components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Support responsive design across mobile, tablet, and desktop platforms
Assist in developing and maintaining digital forms using Form.io
Work with senior developers to troubleshoot UI and form-related issues
Translate user requirements and wireframes into front-end solutions
Fix bugs and support ongoing maintenance of applications
Follow coding standards and participate in code reviews
Assist with testing, including cross-browser compatibility checks
Collaborate with developers, testers, and stakeholders in an Agile environment
Key Criteria:
Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Understanding of responsive web design
Some experience building or maintaining UI components or forms
Familiarity with code editors and browser developer tools
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
Desirable:
Experience with Form.io or similar platforms
Basic understanding of REST APIs and JSON
Familiarity with Git or DevOps tools
Awareness of accessibility standards (WCAG)
Exposure to Agile methodologies
