Multi-skilled Operative

Location: Bexley

Contract: Full Time Permanent

Salary up to £36,425.30 per annum, plus, company van & fuel card

42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)

We are recruiting two Multi‑Skilled Operatives to support our responsive repairs contract in Bexley. These are hands‑on roles working within occupied social housing properties, delivering high‑quality day‑to‑day repairs and providing a great service to residents.

We are looking for:

Both roles will cover a variety of trades, with the second role focusing more heavily on plastering works.

About the Roles:

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Multi‑Skilled Operative with strong plastering experience to join our responsive repairs team in Bexley. This is a hands‑on role working across occupied social housing properties, delivering high‑quality repairs with plastering as your core trade, alongside supporting works across other trades as required.

You’ll be completing day‑to‑day repairs following leaks, maintenance works, and general wear and tear, ensuring properties are left safe, secure, and finished to a high standard. This role suits someone who takes pride in their workmanship, works well independently, and understands the importance of good customer service when working in residents’ homes.

Key Duties

  • Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across social housing properties
  • Complete patch plastering, skimming, and making good to walls and ceilings
  • Repair plaster damage following leaks, damp, or previous maintenance works
  • Ensure finishes are left to a high standard, ready for decoration
  • Undertake basic domestic plumbing repairs including leaks, taps, toilets, wastes, and pipework
  • Complete minor tiling repairs, sealing, and finishing works linked to repairs
  • Carry out basic locksmith duties such as lock changes and securing properties
  • Complete general making‑good works following repairs across all trades
  • Work professionally and sensitively within occupied homes
  • Accurately record works completed using handheld devices
  • Identify and report any additional works or safeguarding concerns
  • Participate in an out‑of‑hours emergency call‑out rota where required
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment

Role Criteria:

  • Proven experience in plastering, including patching, skimming, and making good
  • Experience working within domestic or social housing repairs
  • Ability to support additional trades alongside plastering works
  • Comfortable managing jobs independently from start to finish
  • Strong attention to detail with a right‑first‑time approach
  • Professional and customer‑focused manner when working in residents’ homes
  • Good understanding of health & safety
  • Confident using handheld devices
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Own hand tools
  • Willingness to join an out‑of‑hours emergency rota#

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
