Mears Housing Management is seeking dedicated and compassionate Resident Welfare Officers to help vulnerable individuals avoid homelessness and move into settled accommodation.

As a Resident Welfare Officer, you will play a vital role in providing hands-on, pastoral, floating support to service users. Your mission will be to support them in managing and sustaining their interim accommodation while helping them navigate their pathway to a stable home.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Conducting face-to-face support sessions, covering health, finance, repairs, and the move-on process.
  • Identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns.
  • Keeping detailed records and reporting incidents as necessary.
  • Managing your own diary efficiently and working independently.
  • Overseeing a portfolio of properties, ensuring maintenance and repairs are reported and completed.
  • Carrying out general cleans and ensuring quick turnaround of properties when service users move out.
  • Checking completed maintenance work and planning further support needs.
  • Assisting service users with appointments and other essential tasks.
  • Arranging food parcels and other necessities.
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with probation services, liaising with them at least weekly.

Role Criteria

  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals or in a housing/welfare support role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients both face-to-face and by phone/email
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high standard of service.
  • A proactive, compassionate, and empathetic approach to problem-solving.
  • Full UK driving license (company car provided!)
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
