Annual salary: up to £15,704.00

Plumbing & Domestic Heating Level 3   – Apprenticeship

Location: Govanhill Glasgow

Salary: £7.71per hour, 40 hours per week including time at college.

Tools, Chromebook, and uniform will be provided. 

Plus, an industry recognised qualification and excellent benefits

The Plumbing & Domestic Heating Level 3 programme will take up to 52 months to complete

All our Apprentices are paid above the national minimum wage, and you’ll be paid for your normal working hours plus your attendance at college, with the opportunity to get real life experiences such as working in people’s homes, getting involved in community projects and improving people’s lives by being customer focused.

The apprenticeship course will cover the following: -

  • Health and safety legislation, codes of practice and safe working practices
  • Understand selection, planning, installation, testing, commissioning and de-commissioning, service, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair techniques on cold water, hot water, central heating, above ground drainage and rainwater systems
  • Understand installation and testing techniques for electrical components and control systems on plumbing and domestic heating systems
  • Understand the principles of domestic mechanical environmental technology systems
  • Understand the principles of fuel combustion, ventilation and fluing arrangements within a domestic environment
  • Understand the principles of high-quality customer service and establishing the needs of others (colleagues, customers and other stakeholders). Respect the working environment including customer’s properties
  • Understand different communication methods, how to communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner and how to adapt communication style to suit different situations

What do you need to be a successful candidate: -

  • GCSEs in English and maths national 5 or above
  • The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks
  • You must live in G42 postcode so you can travel to the branch location each day to meet with your mentor
  • Strong communication skills
  • Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationship

Application Process:

To be considered for a Mears apprenticeship all applicants must submit their CV and a Cover Letter detailing why you are interested in Mears Group and why you would like to be an apprentice.

The closing date for applications is 16/04/2025, following this date we will contact you to confirm if you have been selected for the next round, which would either be an invitation to an assessment centre or individual interviews.

Please note that you will be required to complete a basic Math & English test during the selection process, which are like the assessments you will need to take in order to enrol with the college.

All our roles require candidates to have the right to work within the UK, Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship. Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks before commencement of employment.
