About the role:

We’re on the lookout for a reliable and skilled Multi‑Skilled Operative (MSO) to join our team, supporting a busy responsive repairs contract between Brighton and Kent. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll deliver high‑quality repairs across residents’ homes, with a core focus on plumbing, plastering, and locksmith works, while still supporting other associated trades as required.

You’ll be working across occupied properties, responding to day‑to‑day repair requests and ensuring homes are safe, secure, and well maintained. No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt, problem‑solve, and provide excellent customer service will be key to your success.

With a strong pipeline of work and a commitment to improving social housing standards, this is a great opportunity to join a team that genuinely makes a difference. We’re looking for someone dependable, customer‑focused, and passionate about getting the job done right first time.

Duties:

  • Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across social housing properties
  • Undertake domestic plumbing repairs, including leaks, dripping taps, blocked sinks, toilets, traps, wastes, and pipework
  • Repair or replace sanitary ware such as basins, toilets, taps, and shower components
  • Carry out first‑fix and second‑fix plumbing works following leaks or maintenance repairs
  • Complete patch plastering, skimming, and making good to walls and ceilings
  • Repair plaster damage caused by water leaks, damp, or previous works
  • Carry out locksmith duties, including replacing and repairing locks, cylinders, handles, hinges, door furniture, and securing properties
  • Repair or replace internal doors and ironmongery associated with lock changes
  • Complete minor tiling repairs linked to plumbing works, including re‑grouting and sealing
  • Carry out basic making‑good, sealing, and finishing works following repairs
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
  • Work sensitively within occupied homes, respecting residents’ needs, privacy, and security
  • Participate in an out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota where required
  • Identify and report any additional works, safeguarding concerns, or defects outside the scope of the job
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents’ homes
  • Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
  • Manage daily workload effectively to meet service level targets

Role Criteria:

  • Experience carrying out responsive repairs within domestic or social housing properties
  • Strong skills in plumbing, patch plastering/making good, and locksmith works
  • Ability to work independently in occupied homes, managing jobs end‑to‑end
  • Good fault‑finding skills and a right‑first‑time approach
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Professional, customer‑focused manner with residents
  • Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
  • Confident using handheld devices to record works
  • Provide own hand tools
  • Willing to join an out‑of‑hours emergency rota
