Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers whilst their claim is being assessed in three regions: Northeast, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. At the end of May 2021 Mears had over 19000 service users across the three regions. Mears work in partnership with central and local Government, registered providers, tenants, landlords and investors to find solutions to homelessness, provide more social and affordable housing and create specialist housing for people with care needs.
About the Role:
As a Transport Officer in Wakefield the main duties including being responsible for transporting the Service Users and their dependent children ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements and meeting all contractual obligations. Carry out vigilant equipment and audit checks and exercise due diligence at all times to deliver a high-quality service. Complete all relevant paperwork in relation to driving and auditing responsibilities, providing incident and compliance reporting as necessary to rectify any identified issues. To work with the transport team and assist the Transport Manager to meet all contractual requirements and deliver an exceptional Service User experience. Build and maintain good relationships with internal colleagues, third parties and external organisations to support service delivery. Work collaboratively and proactively with the regional teams to ensure client, customer and service users receive an exceptional service. Undertake ad hoc projects and provide support and cover for colleagues and teams with Mears Housing Management. Ensure full compliance with Mears code of conduct, contractual terms and group policies and procedures.
Role Criteria:

Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks before commencement of employment. As part of the recruitment process for this role, we will carry out a DBS & BPSS check, as well as Security Clearance. For these checks to be completed, we will require from you the relevant identification, including Proof of Address, References, a valid passport and proof that you have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.
To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
