Business Support Apprentice

Enfield  

Monday to Friday. 40 hours per week

Salary up to £11.44 an hour depending on age.

As a Mears Apprentice you will be paid above the national minimum wage and be paid for your normal working hours plus time to do your college work with the opportunity to get real life experiences such as working in people’s homes, getting involved in community projects and improving people’s lives by being customer focused. The apprenticeship will take around 16 months to complete and result in gaining your NVQ level 2 in customer service.

About the role:

As a Business Support Apprentice within our Enfield branch your main duties will be to listen, observe and participate in a range of tasks which will enable you gain new skills and knowledge that contribute to the successful achievement of the apprenticeship programme. A Business Support Apprentice will provide administration support to our AIRE team. The duties include reception cover, admin duties, office duties, filing and photocopying, learning aspects of the wider team, inputting data into the system and replying to email and phone calls

  • To maintain high standards of attendance, punctuality and personal appearance both in the workplace and at college, to ensure that all relevant work tasks and qualifications are achieved on time as instructed by your line manager and college. Attend informal and formal meetings and training sessions to ensure up to date business and job knowledge, communication, skills & progression are maintained.
  • Under the guidance of your mentor, work to given specification to ensure the efficient running of workload within the function providing maximum support to the team and contribute to achieve clear and specific outcomes. Utilise existing stock or collect materials as and when required to meet works orders, in accordance with standard operating procedures for purchasing and van stock control compliance   
  • Organise time and resources, prioritising actions which takes into account work related demands.  Seek out challenges or new responsibilities showing flexibility when prioritising change.
  • When working towards goals, show initiative, commitment and perseverance.  Propose practical ways forward, breaking these down into manageable steps. Complete and maintain all paperwork & electronic data records relevant to work carried out, to ensure completion is confirmed and a comprehensive and accurate history is available for audit, quality, health & safety and charging purposes
  • Co-operate with the employer and any other person, in order to ensure that statutory requirements concerning all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment and General Data Protection Regulations  are met. Perform all duties in accordance to the company’s policy and procedures.
  • Respond positively to change, seeking advice and support, when required.
  • Have an awareness of both internal and external customers, communicating with them effectively and in a professional manner at all times. Be fully committed to the British Values and be able to demonstrate this at all times.
  • Remember apprentices represent the company at all times, particularly when they are at work and at college. Always act in the best interests of Mears. Be observant and be confident to report any suspicious behaviour seen whilst working.

Key Criteria:

  • GCSEs minimum national 4 in Maths and English.
  • Approachable, good communicator and confident with people, expected to attend forums and meetings
  • Active listening
  • Keen to learn
  • Enthusiastic
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office, Excel, outlook, Word etc.
