Contract Manager – Disrepair

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: £42,840 plus £4,000 car allowance

Hours: 42.5 per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

Are you an experienced leader in repairs and maintenance looking for your next challenge? Mears is seeking a skilled Contract Manager to oversee the delivery of our disrepair services in Milton Keynes. This is a pivotal role for someone with a strong background in contract management, operational leadership, and customer-focused service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operational and commercial performance of disrepair contracts
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality services in line with legal, safety, and budgetary requirements
  • Manage direct labour and supply chain resources to maximise efficiency
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and Mears operating procedures
  • Ensure all disrepair claims comply with the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims (England).
  • Drive customer satisfaction and meet contractual KPI targets
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members to achieve performance excellence
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, service users, and local communities
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to senior management

Essential Experience

  • Proven track record in capital/programmed works or repairs and maintenance delivery
  • Strong commercial and performance management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple sites and contracts simultaneously
  • Experience working in a customer-focused environment
  • Demonstrated success in contract/project management, including team leadership, governance, and risk management

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including COSHH
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective people management and mentoring abilities
  • Strong customer focus and problem-solving mindset
  • Organised, decisive, and results-oriented
  • Confident in negotiation and influencing
  • IT literate with strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • ILM accreditation or Level 4 Leadership & Management
  • IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification
  • CIOB Building Safety Management
  • Experience managing disrepair contracts
  • Background in social housing or working with local authority clients

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
